About Me
Devin J. Humpal is an Adjunct Professor with extensive experience teaching subjects
such as human physiology, genetics, ecology, and cell biology at College of the
Canyons in Santa Clarita, California. He has also taught environmental science,
chemistry, and neuroscience at the high school level, effectively bridging complex
scientific topics across educational stages.
With over a decade of mentoring experience, he has guided nearly 200
students—primarily from community colleges—in crafting personalized "career maps"
that detail educational pathways, job prospects, and budget planning. His mentorship
includes advising on scientific careers, college transfers, and the realities of PhD
programs in molecular biology.
Humpal holds a BA in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from Pitzer College, a
BS in Biotechnology from UC Davis, and an MS in the Biology of Aging from the
University of Southern California. His research spans climate change, embryonic
epigenetics, retinal diseases, neurobiology, and the genetics of aging.
